India Women Crush Pakistan 19-0 To Storm Into Junior Asia Cup Hockey Semi-Finals

Moqi, China: Pakistan proved no match for India in the Junior Asia Cup Hockey tournament. The Indian women’s team thrashed Pakistan 19-0 in the quarter-final to storm into the semi-finals. India will now face either Korea or Malaysia in Saturday’s semi-final.

From the very beginning to the final whistle, the Indian players completely dominated Pakistan, helping the defending champions register one of their biggest wins in the tournament. India scored a staggering 19 goals in total. Pakistan’s performance was so poor that India earned as many as 18 penalty corners and also won one penalty stroke. Almost every Indian player scored one or more goals. Player of the Match Pooja Malik scored a hat-trick, while Roshni Aind, Sanika Mane, Supriya and Madhu Sidar scored two goals each. The other Indian scorers included Pooja Sahu, Tanushree Dinesh Kadu, Sukhveer Kaur, Geeta Yadav, Tanuja Toppo, Purnima Yadav, Binima Dhan and Krishna Sharma.

India’s defence was equally impressive, as Pakistan failed to score even once. The Pakistani team did not earn a single penalty corner and was also denied a penalty stroke. India maintained relentless pressure on the Pakistani players throughout the match. Even after India scored its 10th goal in the 27th minute, the Indian players did not ease the psychological pressure on their opponents.

A hockey match generally consists of four quarters of 15 minutes each. India scored five goals in the first quarter and added another five in the second. The Indian players then scored three goals in the third quarter before completing the demolition with six more goals in the fourth quarter.
