World Champion Jaismine Lamboria Adds Commonwealth Games Gold To Her Glittering Career

Glasgow: With just one day remaining before the conclusion of the 23rd Commonwealth Games, medals continued to pour in for India. After Preeti Pawar’s triumph, Indian boxer Jaismine Lamboria also delivered a gold medal in the women’s boxing competition.

The Haryana boxer defeated Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh 5-0 in the women’s 57kg final to claim the Commonwealth Games title. Jaismine, who is already the reigning world champion in the category, has now added the Commonwealth crown to her impressive list of achievements.

Competing in the blue corner, Jaismine faced Commonwealth defending champion Michaela Walsh of Northern Ireland. However, the world champion proved too strong for her opponent. Jaismine had to battle hard in the opening round, and the judges were not unanimous in their decision. Nevertheless, she was declared the winner of the round. In the second round, all the judges voted in Jaismine’s favour, giving her a commanding lead.

Michaela, fighting from the red corner, struggled to cope with Jaismine’s aggressive attack in the second round. A series of powerful punches from the Indian boxer earned her crucial points and helped her win the round comfortably. Jaismine maintained complete control for the remainder of the bout and sealed an emphatic 5-0 victory to win the Commonwealth Games gold medal.
