Hangzhou (China): While Indian athletes have been winning one or more medals every day at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, India’s shooters also brought glory to the nation by clinching two medals on the same day at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in China.

Rising shooting star Isha Singh continued her outstanding form by winning the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol event at the ISSF World Cup (Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun). She achieved the feat by finishing ahead of fellow Indian and Paris Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker, who secured the bronze medal in the same event.

The 21-year-old Isha Singh delivered a dominant performance in the final, registering 40 hits to clinch the gold medal. Manu Bhaker, who won two bronze medals at last year’s Paris Olympics, fought hard but had to settle for bronze after scoring 28 hits. China’s Zhang Yeyi claimed the silver medal with 37 hits.

At the end of the qualification round, Manu Bhaker topped the standings with a score of 586-20X, while Isha Singh followed closely with 585-18X. They advanced to the eight-shooter final after finishing fifth and seventh respectively in the qualification rankings
Isha had also won the World Cup gold medal in Munich earlier this season, which meant there was considerable pressure on her to maintain that success. However, she enjoys competing in Hangzhou and entered the event full of confidence. She lived up to expectations by winning another gold medal, further raising hopes that she can also win a medal at the 2028 Olympic Games.

India is now third in the ISSF World Cup medal table. China leads the standings with 15 medals, including six gold, four silver and five bronze. The United States is in second place with four medals (two gold and two silver), while India occupies third place with three medals—one gold, one silver and one bronze.
