Big Decision Taken on IPL Auction!

New Delhi: A major decision has been taken regarding the Indian Premier League (IPL) player auction. The auction for the 2027 IPL season will be held in India. After the mini and mega auctions were held overseas over the past few years, the IPL auction is now set to return to India.

The IPL auction was held in Kochi in 2023. The 2024 mini-auction was then conducted in Dubai, while Jeddah in Saudi Arabia was selected as the venue for the 2025 mega-auction. The 2026 auction was subsequently held in Abu Dhabi. However, the 2027 auction will be conducted in India.

The BCCI Annual General Meeting is scheduled for September 18, at which Arun Dhumal is expected to be re-elected as the IPL chairman. Speaking to PTI on Wednesday, he said, “For the last three years, we have been constantly trying to hold the IPL auction in India, but because it was the wedding season, we could not find a suitable venue for the auction event. This time, however, the auction for the 2027 IPL will be a smaller one, and we hope to get a venue for it.”

The BCCI has shortlisted a number of venues. The city in which a suitable venue is available will be announced as the final auction venue.
