Mumbai: After Rajasthan Royals (RR) suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2026 semi-final at New Chandigarh on Friday, legendary actor and cricket enthusiast Amitabh Bachchan posted an emotional message on social media praising Rajasthan’s young batting sensation and left-handed opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
A die-hard cricket fan, Amitabh Bachchan was deeply impressed by Vaibhav’s extraordinary achievements and shared a heartfelt post late on Friday night. He wrote, “Suryavanshi… a sun spreading its brilliance at the age of 15. At that age, most of us could hardly play marbles or street cricket properly.”

Sooryavanshi – १५ साल की उम्र का अद्भुत सूर्या ।
इस उम्र में तो हम बंटों और गुल्ली डंडा भी ठीक से नहीं खेल पा रहे थे !!
A Remarkably Mature Innings
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has stunned the cricketing world with his fearless strokeplay against some of the game’s finest bowlers, produced another spectacular knock against Gujarat. The teenager smashed 96 runs off just 47 balls, hitting seven sixes and eight fours.
For the second consecutive match, he narrowly missed out on a century. However, what impressed cricket followers the most was the maturity and responsibility he displayed. Despite watching five wickets fall around him, including fellow opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav carried Rajasthan’s hopes almost single-handedly until the 18th over.
The young batter has already taken apart some of the biggest names in world cricket during this tournament, including Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell Starc, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj and Rashid Khan.
Record-Breaking 1,000 Runs in Just 440 Balls
Vaibhav’s IPL 2026 campaign has been unlike anything previously seen in the tournament. He is already the fastest Indian to score an IPL century, reaching the milestone in just 35 balls.
The teenager has smashed 72 sixes this season and surpassed Chris Gayle’s long-standing record of 59 sixes earlier this week. On Friday, he added another remarkable achievement by becoming the fastest player in IPL history to reach 1,000 runs, taking only 440 deliveries to get there.
In doing so, he broke the previous record held by Andre Russell, who had reached the milestone in 545 balls.
Orange Cap Holder with 776 Runs
Vaibhav currently leads the IPL 2026 run-scoring charts with 776 runs and is the holder of the Orange Cap. He accumulated those runs in 16 matches at a staggering strike rate of 237.30, including 72 sixes and 63 fours.
‘Universal Baby Boss’
The young sensation has already earned nicknames such as “Universal Baby Boss” and “New Six Machine” for his explosive batting.
In a season where several established stars, including Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, struggled to make a consistent impact, Vaibhav emerged as Rajasthan Royals’ driving force and delivered performances that often resembled a one-man army.
