New Delhi/Jaipur: Saturday, April 25, turned into a historic day in the 19-year history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 in terms of single-day statistics. Not only was there a heavy shower of runs, but a total of 16 catches were also dropped, along with several other remarkable incidents
A total of 986 runs were scored across two matches played on Saturday. While double-headers (two matches in a day) have been common in previous IPL seasons, never before had so many runs been scored in a single day. Across both games, a combined 59 sixes and 96 fours were smashed. The first match was played between Delhi and Punjab, followed by Rajasthan vs Hyderabad.

In the Delhi-Punjab clash, a total of 529 runs were scored. KL Rahul powered Delhi to 264/2 with an unbeaten 152. In response, Punjab chased down the target in just 18.5 overs, scoring 265/4 to complete a record-breaking chase and strengthen their position in the points table.
