
Sano: World champions and world No.1 India were given a huge scare by 41st-ranked Japan in a historic T20 match here today, eventually scraping home by just two runs against the tiny cricketing nation. Rain reduced the match to five overs per side. India won the toss and opted to bat first.
India managed only 32 runs for four wickets in 30 balls. Japan, in reply, scored 30 for three in the same number of deliveries. Washington Sundar claimed two wickets for India, while one Japanese batter was run out.

After the rain interruption, India batted first and managed just 32 runs in the allotted five overs. The Indian batsmen produced a shocking batting display and put the entire responsibility of defending the tiny total on the Indian bowlers.
Just a few days after rewriting several world records, opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck off the very first ball he faced.

The other opener, Sanju Samson, was dismissed for just nine runs, while Ishan Kishan lost his wicket after scoring three.

In the first three overs of the five-over match, India lost three wickets for just 14 runs. Captain Shreyas Iyer was then dismissed after scoring 16 runs. Hinze claimed two wickets, while Takahashi and Benjamin Ito-Davis took one wicket each. However, Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi went wicketless during Japan’s innings.
