Eight players dropped from successful Zimbabwe tour: Now Vaibhav to be tested against Afghanistan
New Delhi: After a short break, India’s international cricket season is set to resume, with eight big names making their way back into the T20I squad. However, popular all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s name is still missing from the team. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had a successful series in Zimbabwe after failing to make an impact on his England debut, will now face another test against Afghanistan.
Hardik has still not regained full fitness and has therefore not been included in India’s 15-member squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in Delhi this month.
When will the three T20Is be played?
India and Afghanistan will play three T20Is in the national capital, Delhi, on September 13, 15 and 17. Notably, India had defeated Zimbabwe 3-0 in the T20I series in Harare in July under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. Before that, India had suffered a 0-4 series defeat in England and an earlier 0-2 loss in Ireland.
Which eight players are making comebacks?
Shreyas Iyer will once again lead the T20I team. The eight players returning to the squad are Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, world No. 1-ranked Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Sanju Samson.

Most of these players had been out of the team due to different injury issues but are now fit to return. However, Nitish, Sundar, Bumrah and Harshit will be available to play only after receiving full fitness clearance.
Which eight players have been dropped?
Eight players from the squad that toured Zimbabwe and helped India complete a 3-0 series victory under Shreyas Iyer have been left out of the Afghanistan series. They are Prabhsimran Singh, Rinku Singh, Harsh Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Ashok Sharma, Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav and Yash Thakur.
