Hardik To Miss Afghanistan Series; Back Pain Gone, Now Troubled By Leg Injury

Bengaluru: It has been less than 24 hours since it was announced that Hardik Pandya was fit to play in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, which begins in Dharamshala on June 13, but reports have now emerged that he will not be able to participate in the series.

Hardik had been suffering from back pain, but the medical team at the Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru was preparing to certify him fit for the series. However, it was then discovered that Hardik was experiencing severe pain in his leg.

During practice at the COE, Hardik attempted to complete the full quota of 10 overs required for an ODI match. It is understood that he successfully passed that test, but the effort may have resulted in intense pain in his quadriceps muscle.

The medical team has advised him to take at least three weeks of rest, which means he will miss the ODI series against Afghanistan.

Yashasvi to Replace Virat

Virat Kohli will also miss the ODI series against Afghanistan due to an injury sustained during the recent IPL season. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been included in the ODI squad as Kohli’s replacement.
