New Delhi: Delhi Capitals secured a convincing six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians at their home ground on Saturday, earning two crucial points and climbing to the top of the IPL 2026 points table thanks to a superior net run rate.
Chasing a target of 163, Delhi comfortably reached 164/4 in 18.1 overs, sealing victory with 11 balls to spare. Meerut-born Sameer Rizvi once again emerged as the standout performer, scoring 90 off 51 balls, including seven sixes and seven fours. However, he narrowly missed out on what would have been his maiden IPL century, falling just 10 runs short. Rizvi was caught by Tilak Varma at long-off while attempting a big hit off Corbin Bosch.

Delhi, like Mumbai, had an early setback, losing two quick wickets. Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka contributed a valuable 44 off 30 balls, striking one six and six fours. He shared a 66-run partnership for the third wicket with Rizvi. Later, Rizvi stitched a crucial 78-run stand with David Miller (21* off 18 balls, four fours) for the fourth wicket.
After Rizvi’s dismissal in the 17th over, Miller and Tristan Stubbs (3*) ensured there were no further hiccups, guiding Delhi to victory. For Mumbai, Corbin Bosch, Deepak Chahar, and Mitchell Santner picked up one wicket each, while Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mayank Markande went wicketless.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians had a shaky start, losing Tilak Varma (0) and Sherfane Rutherford (5) cheaply. The absence of regular captain Hardik Pandya, who missed the match due to illness, was clearly felt.
Suryakumar Yadav was the lone bright spot for Mumbai, scoring a fighting 51 off 36 balls with two sixes and three fours. Contributions from Naman Dhir (28), Mitchell Santner (18), and Corbin Bosch (11) helped Mumbai post 162/6 in 20 overs.

For Delhi Capitals, Mukesh Kumar claimed two wickets, while Anrich Nortje, Axar Patel, Vipraj Nigam, and T. Natarajan picked up one wicket each.
