Kamaljeet-Suruchi Pair Win Historic Gold For India with Record-Breaking Score!

Nagoya : India have won their second gold medal at the Asian Games in Japan, with shooters Kamaljeet Singh and Suruchi Inder Singh claiming the top prize. Even more significantly, India have won the gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event for the first time in Asian Games history — and they did it with a record-breaking score.

The Kamaljeet-Suruchi pair finished first in the final of the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event with a highest score of 484.6. The score also established a new Asian Games record in this shooting event. With such a commanding performance, the Indian pair comfortably secured the gold medal. At the 2022 Asian Games in China, the Indian pair had won the silver medal in this event.

After completing their campaign in Friday’s final, both shooters celebrated their first-place finish by clenching their fists and expressing their joy. Their happiness was also evident as they had delivered India’s first gold medal in shooting at these Asian Games. Before Friday, Indian shooters had managed only silver and bronze medals in the competition. Kamaljeet and Suruchi have now given India’s shooting campaign a golden turn. India’s first gold medal at these Asian Games had earlier been won by the women’s cricket team.


The South Korean pair won the silver medal with a score of 478.00, while Iran claimed the bronze medal with 415.08.

India Win Silver in 50m Shooting

India also won a silver medal in the 50m 3P Rifle Team shooting event at the Asian Games on Friday. The Indian team that secured the honour comprised Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Neeraj Kumar and Rudrankksh Patil.
