Arsenal on the Brink: How and When the Gunners Can Clinch the Premier League Title — and Can Man City Still Catch Them?

The Premier League title race is entering its final stretch, with Arsenal firmly in the driving seat to end a 22-year wait for the championship.

The Gunners currently sit at the top of the 20-team table with 76 points from 35 games, three matches remaining. Manchester City are second with 71 points but have four games left to play. Manchester United, third on the table with 64 points and three games remaining, can accumulate a maximum of 73 points effectively ruling them out of title contention. City’s 3-3 draw against Everton has tilted the race heavily in Arsenal’s favour.

How Soon Can Arsenal Win the Premier League?

Arsenal’s remaining fixtures are: West Ham (May 10), Burnley (May 18), and Crystal Palace (May 24). Manchester City face: Brentford (May 9), Crystal Palace (May 13), Bournemouth (May 19), and Aston Villa (May 24).

The earliest Arsenal can seal the title is May 18 at home against Burnley. For that to happen, City must fail to win against either Brentford on May 9 or Crystal Palace on May 13, and Arsenal must beat West Ham on May 10. A home win over Burnley on May 18 would then be enough for the Gunners to lift the trophy.

Can Manchester City Still Win the Title?

Mathematically, yes. If City win all four remaining matches, they finish on 83 points a total Arsenal can match with two wins and a draw from their three games.

Pep Guardiola’s side hold the advantage of one extra game, keeping their hopes alive. However, any slip by City combined with Arsenal avoiding defeat keeps the title firmly in north London’s hands.
