Uttar Pradesh CM Honors Kanpur Victim of Pahalgam Attack with Support Pledge

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid heartfelt tribute to Shubham Dwivedi, a Kanpur resident killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In a gesture of solidarity, Adityanath personally spoke with Dwivedi’s father, Sanjay Dwivedi, over the phone, expressing deep condolences and assuring the grieving family of comprehensive support from the state government.
The Chief Minister condemned the attack as a “cowardly” act, describing Dwivedi’s death as “extremely sad” in a post on his official X account. He directed state officials to ensure the respectful transportation of Dwivedi’s mortal remains to Kanpur, emphasizing the government’s commitment to standing by the family during their time of loss. “I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense sorrow,” Adityanath stated.
Dwivedi, a newlywed who had married on February 12, 2025, was among the civilians killed in the Pahalgam attack. He had traveled to Kashmir with his wife for a brief vacation, a trip that tragically ended in violence. Dwivedi’s cousin, Saurabh Dwivedi, alleged that the terrorists fired after inquiring about the victims’ identities, with Shubham sustaining a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
The Uttar Pradesh government has pledged full assistance to the Dwivedi family, with Adityanath instructing authorities to provide all necessary support. The Chief Minister’s actions reflect the state’s resolve to honor the memory of those lost to terrorism and support their families in the aftermath of such tragedies.
