UP Tragedy: Speeding SUV Runs Over Pedestrians in Agra; 5 Killed, 2 Injured | Watch Video

A horrific road accident in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, claimed the lives of five people late Friday night after a speeding SUV lost control and ran over pedestrians. Two others sustained serious injuries in the accident.

The victims were identified as Babli (33), Bhanu Pratap (25), Kamal (23), Krishna (20), and Bantesh (21). All five were rushed to Sarojini Naidu Medical College in critical condition, where doctors declared them dead on arrival, according to officials.

As reported by NDTV, the Tata Nexon involved in the crash first collided with a two-wheeler, hit a divider, and then mowed down several people before finally crashing into a wall. The impact left the vehicle completely wrecked.

ACP Agra, Sheshmani Upadhyay, told ANI that the mishap occurred in the New Agra police station area. “Five people, including four men and one woman, were brought to SN Medical College. Doctors confirmed all five were dead. A case has been registered after a request from the victims’ families,” he said.

An eyewitness told NDTV that he heard a loud crash while sitting inside his shop. “We rushed to the spot and pulled out the victims from under the car. They were critically injured and taken to the hospital immediately,” he said.

The crowd reportedly caught the driver, pulled him from the vehicle, and thrashed him before handing him over to the police. Authorities have seized the SUV, and preliminary investigation is underway to determine if the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The incident has triggered shock and anger among local residents.
