Horrific Assault on Young Girl Shocks Odisha Village

A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, authorities reported on Monday. The assault occurred on Saturday evening as the girl was gathering palm fruits in an orchard near her village, under the jurisdiction of Motanga police station, according to police.

The attacker, a 32-year-old man under the influence of alcohol, reportedly took advantage of the girl being alone. After the assault, he left her unconscious, concealed under palm leaves, police said. The girl’s brother later discovered her in critical condition, covered in blood. She was immediately taken to Hindol hospital and subsequently transferred to the district headquarters hospital in Angul for further treatment.

Medical professionals confirmed that the girl is now stable and out of danger.

The suspect, who was visiting a relative in the village and is originally from another area, was apprehended on Sunday. Police have filed a case against him. “The accused has a history of criminal behavior and struggles with alcoholism,” a police officer stated.
