New Delhi : In a strong message to rebels ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned leaders against switching camps just before polls, only to return to the parent party.
The Prime Minister, who is on a visit to Bihar, also urged the leaders to demonstrate patience to get “respect” and “recognition”. “Patience is the greatest asset in a party. If you have patience, you will earn respect and recognition,” he said. The upcoming Bihar polls will witness a direct clash between the RJD-Congress-Left combine and the ruling BJP-JD(U) alliance.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has earned the moniker ‘Paltu Ram’ due to his history of swiftly changing sides, remains a key piece in the BJP’s Bihar electoral maths due to his appeal among the Kurmis. In a strong message to those seeking tickets for their sons and family members, the Prime Minister urged the BJP leaders to shun dynastic politics and nepotism.
“There should be no feudalism or dynasty in politics. It should not happen that if not you, then your son gets the ticket. This practice must end,” PM Modi, who held a road show in Patna on Thursday, effectively sounding the poll bugle, said. Highlighting the importance of social media in politics, the Prime Minister underlined that anyone aspiring for a ticket should have at least 50,000 followers.
