PM Modi in Bihar Rally: RJD ‘Put a Katta to Congress’s Head’ to Seize CM Candidacy

BHAGALPUR, BIHAR – Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce attack on the Opposition’s Mahagathbandhan during a campaign rally in Bihar on Thursday, accusing the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of forcing the Congress to surrender the Chief Ministerial candidacy through political coercion.

Speaking at the rally, Modi claimed that Congress had been portraying itself as the dominant ally while treating the RJD as a junior partner, but the RJD “snatched” the CM post by “putting a katta (country-made gun) to Congress’s head.”

“For months, Congress leaders boasted that their party was the big one and RJD a small tag-along. But the RJD challenged this arrogance and the supremacy of their ‘Namdaar’ (a veiled reference to Rahul Gandhi). By putting a katta to Congress’s head, they took away the CM face,” Modi said, as quoted by ANI.

Congress’ Inner Turmoil

The Prime Minister alleged that Congress is now plotting revenge against the RJD. “The Congress ‘Namdaar’ has been missing for a long time. People say he didn’t even want to come to Bihar; he was brought here by force. Now, they are doing harm to RJD itself. Those who can betray their comrades for power can never wish Bihar well,” he remarked.

Modi linked the RJD’s political legacy with Bihar’s dark era of lawlessness, saying that the state’s “jungle raj” was built on “katta (guns), kroorta (cruelty), katuta (bitterness), kushasan (misgovernance), and corruption.”

“In the RJD curriculum, ‘A’ stands for apharan (kidnapping), ‘F’ for firauti (ransom), and ‘P’ for parivarvaad (dynasty rule),” he added, drawing applause from the crowd.

Women Powering the Vote

Commending voter turnout in the first phase of the Bihar elections, Modi highlighted the enthusiasm among women voters. “Our mothers and sisters are voting in great numbers, breaking records and protecting Bihar from jungle raj. Their participation has become a strong wall of democracy,” the Prime Minister said.

He credited women’s empowerment schemes for the surge in voter confidence, noting that safety and respect for women remain key priorities. “Congress and RJD ruled Bihar for decades, but they never remembered to create Jeevika Didi,” he said, referring to the women’s livelihood initiative.

Elections in Bihar began Thursday with the first phase of polling. The second phase will be held on November 11, and results are scheduled for November 14.

The INDIA alliance, led by the RJD and Congress, has fielded Tejashwi Prasad Yadav as its Chief Ministerial candidate and named Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) leader Mukesh Sahani as the Deputy CM face.
