A shocking case of alleged violence inside a Lucknow school has left parents angry after a five year old nursery student was reportedly beaten by the class monitor for nearly eight minutes while the teacher was away from the classroom.
The incident took place at ALS Academy and was captured on the school’s CCTV cameras. According to reports, the teacher had asked the children to keep their heads down on their desks before stepping out of the classroom. She also reportedly instructed the class monitor to keep an eye on the students in her absence.
However, what followed has raised serious concerns over the safety of young children in schools.
As seen in the CCTV footage, the class monitor allegedly began hitting students who lifted their heads. The five year old boy is seen being slapped repeatedly after he looked up. Even after the child broke down in tears, the assault allegedly continued, with the monitor forcing his head back onto the desk.
The footage reportedly shows the child trying to leave the classroom to escape the assault. But instead of being allowed out, he was allegedly dragged back inside, and the classroom door was shut. The beating continued until the teacher returned a few minutes later.
The child reportedly complained to the teacher about what had happened. However, the incident came to light only after he reached home. His parents noticed swelling on his face and injury marks, following which they confronted the school and reviewed the CCTV footage.
The visuals left the family stunned. Soon after, the school expelled the class monitor. However, questions continue to be raised over why a nursery classroom was left unattended and whether enough responsibility was taken by the school staff.
The incident has sparked outrage online, with many parents questioning how a student was allowed to discipline classmates, especially children as young as five years old. Several users have also demanded stricter supervision inside classrooms and accountability from schools to prevent such incidents from happening again.
The case has once again highlighted the importance of constant adult supervision in pre primary classrooms, where children are too young to protect themselves or respond to situations of abuse. While the class monitor has been removed, many believe the incident calls for a deeper review of school safety practices to ensure such lapses are not repeated.
