Kashmir Crackdown Intensifies: Over 600 Held in Massive Raids Following Deadly Delhi Blast

In a sweeping security operation across Kashmir, authorities have detained and placed under preventive restrictions at least 600 people during more than 500 search missions in recent days, police announced on November 12, 2025.

The intensified measures come in the wake of the November 10 explosion at New Delhi’s Red Fort, which claimed the lives of 13 civilians. On the same day, numerous properties linked to the outlawed Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) were targeted in raids.

Investigators are examining potential terror connections involving three doctors from south Kashmir. One suspect, Dr. Umar Nabi, is believed to have driven the vehicle packed with explosives. DNA from his mother has been collected to identify remains found in the car wreckage.

In Srinagar, another physician, Tajamul Ahmed Malik, faced police questioning. His father, Mohammad Ayoub Malik, told local news agencies that the inquiry focused solely on a cold storage project and its funding sources, dismissing any link to the Delhi incident as “completely false.”

South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, hometown of Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather—under scrutiny for Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) threat posters—saw over 200 sites searched. More than 400 cordon-and-search operations there in the past four days led to questioning around 500 people tied to Pakistan-based groups and banned organizations. Many were relocated to Mattan Jail in Anantnag under preventive detention laws.

In north Kashmir’s Baramulla, particularly Sopore, Zaingeer, and Rafiabad, over 30 locations yielded incriminating documents, digital devices, and banned materials from JeI associates. Similar actions in Pulwama’s Awantipora, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Shopian, Bandipora, and Budgam districts resulted in seizures and detentions aimed at disrupting terror networks.

Police described the raids as essential to dismantling separatist support structures and maintaining stability. In Shopian, authorities also addressed a viral video from the Facebook page “Voice of Humanity” promoting separatist views, vowing strict action against peace disruptors.
