New Delhi: In a chilling revelation from the investigation into a brutal murder in Noida, a 34-year-old bus driver has confessed to beheading his extramarital lover, alleging she had been systematically extorting money from him and issuing threats against his family. Monu Singh, also known as Monu Solanki, faces charges after the gruesome discovery of the victim’s dismembered remains scattered across drains in Noida and Ghaziabad.
The horror unfolded when Preeti Yadav’s headless and limbless torso was discovered on November 6 in a drain under the jurisdiction of Noida’s Sector-39 police station. The only initial clue was a pair of toe rings on the remains, prompting an exhaustive probe. Singh, who is married with two daughters, had been in a clandestine relationship with Yadav; both resided in Noida’s Barola area.
During interrogation, Singh detailed the events leading to the killing on November 5. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Yamuna Prasad, speaking to the news agency PTI, the accused admitted to secretly retrieving a sharp-edged tool from Yadav’s home before picking her up. Inside the white-and-blue bus bearing number plate UP16 KT 0037, the pair shared a meal, but tensions escalated into a fierce argument. Singh then assaulted her with the weapon, severing her head and hands in a bid to conceal her identity.

He discarded the torso in a Noida drain and disposed of the other body parts along with the murder weapon in a dry drain near Ghaziabad’s Siddharth Vihar. Forensic analysis of the bus and recovered items later confirmed traces of human blood, solidifying the evidence against him.
Singh’s arrest came swiftly on Friday, the culmination of a massive police operation. DCP Prasad explained that nine teams were deployed, scrutinizing footage from over 5,000 CCTV cameras and inspecting around 1,100 vehicles. This narrowed down to 44 suspects, whose drivers were interrogated. A breakthrough occurred when officers spotted the suspect bus lurking near the crime scene on the evening of the murder, its lights ominously off.
An FIR was promptly filed under Sections 103(1) and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), with legal proceedings advancing. Singh further claimed Yadav had repeatedly demanded cash from him and warned of dragging him or his daughters into criminal cases, adding a layer of motive to the savage act.
