Gurgaon: As investigations continue into the shocking murder of state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav, a woman claiming to be her closest friend has come forward with allegations that the killing was planned and driven by her father’ insecurities.
Himaanshika Singh Rajput, who says she was Radhika’s best friend for nearly a decade, posted a series of emotional videos on Instagram titled “What Happened to Radhika Yadav.” In them, she claims Radhika’s father had been planning the murder days in advance and acted out of fear of societal judgment and pressure.
According to Rajput, Radhika had been emotionally distressed for at least 10 days prior to her death. “She had given up,” Rajput said. “She was ready to do whatever they wanted.” She alleges that Radhika’s father deliberately waited for the right moment to carry out the killing. On the day of the incident, he allegedly isolated Radhika by sending her mother to another room, her brother outside, and even removing her dog from the house.
She shared, “This wasn’t a moment of madness. It was premeditated. Her father had been planning to kill her for days. I’ve come to know that he had been struggling with his mental health, but no amount of struggle can justify what he did. Radhika didn’t deserve this. She didn’t deserve to die like this — at the hands of someone who should have loved her unconditionally. She was bright, kind, full of dreams and life. And now, she’s gone.”
Rajput also claimed that the murder was influenced by the father’s peers, and driven by long-standing resentment over Radhika’s lifestyle choices, including wearing makeup, shorts, and creating videos on social media. “How many more women will die because of men and their fragile egos?” she asked in her video.
She further alleged that Radhika’s parents were extremely controlling, with a constant focus on “log kya kahenge” (what will people say). According to her, Radhika often felt suffocated and had to justify every action to her parents.
The murder occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the family’s residence in Gurgaon. Police reports confirm that Radhika was shot in the waist while she was in the kitchen. The investigation is ongoing.
