The woman lodged a complaint at Imamwada Police Station on Friday, detailing her ordeal. According to her statement, she connected with the accused via Instagram in November 2022. Their initial online exchanges evolved into phone conversations, fostering a friendship. The accused allegedly assured her of marriage, leading to a physical relationship, the police added. However, after securing his IPS position, the officer reportedly distanced himself and refused to honor his commitment, according to the complainant.

The woman also stated that the accused’s family ignored her attempts to resolve the matter, prompting her to seek legal recourse. On Saturday, police registered a rape case against the officer based on her complaint, and investigations are ongoing, officials said
