The acrimonious post-divorce battle between boxing legend MC Mary Kom and her former husband Karung Onkholer (Onler) has intensified, with fresh, pointed counter-accusations emerging from both sides.
Mary Kom recently went public with serious financial grievances, asserting that Onler had misappropriated substantial earnings from her storied boxing career. She alleged he secured loans in her name, mortgaged properties she owned, and transferred assets without her full knowledge or agreement. These claims came to light during proceedings at a Lok Adalat and in subsequent media interviews, where she explained discovering the discrepancies after an injury prevented her participation in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Onler has categorically denied any financial impropriety, describing the accusations as unfounded. In statements , widely reported by outlets, he highlighted his current modest living situation in a rented Delhi home as evidence against claims of large-scale misappropriation. He demanded concrete documentation from Mary Kom, remarking, “If she wants to accuse me, bring proof—bring the papers.”
In response, Onler turned the focus to Mary Kom’s conduct during their marriage, which lasted from 2005 until their divorce in 2023. He alleged she had engaged in extramarital relationships, first citing an incident in 2013 involving a junior boxer that reportedly led to family confrontations before a resolution was reached. He further claimed that from 2017 onward, she maintained a relationship with an individual connected to the Mary Kom Boxing Academy. Onler asserted he holds supporting evidence, specifically WhatsApp messages that include the name of the person involved. “I have their WhatsApp messages as proof. I have proof, with the name of the person with whom she was having an affair. He noted he had stayed quiet on these matters until provoked by the recent public allegations.

While expressing no objection to Mary Kom pursuing new relationships after their divorce—“She wanted to live alone and have another relationship. We’re divorced. I don’t mind if she wants to have another husband”—Onler stressed his opposition to being unfairly portrayed or blamed without evidence. He maintained that he had provided steadfast support throughout their marriage.
The couple shares four children: twins born in 2007, a son in 2013, and an adopted daughter in 2018. Their once-private matters have now drawn widespread attention amid these dueling narratives. Reports do not indicate an immediate public rebuttal from Mary Kom or her representatives to Onler’s latest assertions.
