Many attempts to disturb peace in state : Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Reacts After Amritsar Blast

Amritsar: Following a blast at Thakurdwara Temple in Khandwala, Amritsar, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann asserted that there are ongoing efforts to disrupt peace in the state. The incident, which occurred late last night when two motorcycle-borne individuals hurled an object suspected to be an explosive at the temple, fortunately left no injuries.

Mann emphasized, “There are always attempts to disturb the peace in Punjab. While issues like drugs, gang activity, and extortion exist, some try to portray our state as chaotic. Even during Holi, when other states had to resort to baton charges during processions, Punjab has maintained good law and order.”

Amritsar Commissioner GPS Bhullar added that police received information about the blast at around 2 a.m. and quickly mobilized, with forensic teams and CCTV checks underway. Bhullar also hinted at external influences, accusing Pakistan’s ISI of luring local youth into causing disturbances, and assured that the investigation would soon trace the culprits.

In a Related Incident in Moga:
In a separate case, a joint operation by the CIA units of Moga and Malout led to an exchange of fire during an attempt to arrest suspects in connection with the murder of Shiv Sena leader Mangat Ram. The operation, conducted at Angadpura Mohalla in Moga, saw three accused identified as Arun alias Deepu, Arun alias Singha, and Rajveer alias Laddo opening fire on the police. The police, responding in self-defense, fired back using a 9mm and a 0.32 pistol, injuring the suspects. All three were subsequently taken to Civil Hospital in Malout for treatment.

Moga SP confirmed that an FIR has been registered against the six accused in the Mangat Ram case, with further investigation ongoing. According to reports, the firing incident also resulted in injuries to a saloon owner and a child, highlighting the escalating tensions surrounding the case.

Together, these incidents underscore the challenges Punjab faces in maintaining its peace, even as state officials and law enforcement work diligently to restore order and hold perpetrators accountable.
