Indian Army soldier way to J&K base brutally assaulted at toll plaza in Meerut | WATCH

New Delhi: A disturbing video from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut has sparked outrage after it showed an Indian Army soldier being tied to a pole and brutally beaten by toll plaza staff. Police confirmed on Saturday that six employees have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The victim, identified as Kapil Kavad of the Rajput Regiment, was returning from his hometown to catch a flight to Srinagar, where he is posted. While travelling with his cousin, his vehicle was caught in a long queue at the Bhuni toll plaza. Worried about missing his flight, Kapil reportedly stepped out of the car to speak with toll booth workers, which soon escalated into a heated argument.

The situation turned violent as at least five toll employees were seen attacking the soldier and his cousin. In the viral video, Kapil is pinned against a pole with his hands pulled back while being struck with sticks and verbally abused.

Rakesh Kumar Mishra, Superintendent of Police (Rural), confirmed that a case has been registered following a complaint lodged by the soldier’s family. “Kapil, who is in the Indian Army, was returning to his post. There was a long queue, and when he spoke to the toll staff, an argument broke out that led to the assault,” Mishra said. He added that four of the accused were initially caught after police examined CCTV and mobile clips, while two others were later arrested.

Reports suggest that the confrontation may have started after Kapil told the employees that his village falls in a toll-exempted zone. What began as a dispute over charges soon spiraled into physical violence.

The attack ignited anger in the area, and by afternoon, several villagers reached the toll plaza in protest. The crowd vandalized kiosks and broke boom barriers, demanding strict action against those involved in the assault on the Army jawan.
