China Eastern Airlines to Restart Shanghai–Delhi Flights From November 9

China Eastern Airlines has announced the resumption of round-trip flights between Shanghai and New Delhi beginning November 9, marking another step toward normalizing India–China air connectivity after a five-year break.

The decision follows announcements made during a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit held in Tianjin this August. Both nations agreed to reopen direct air routes connecting key cities.

As per the schedule, the Shanghai–Delhi service will operate three times a week on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Flights from Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport will depart at 12:50 p.m. and reach Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport by 5:45 p.m. (local time).

The return flight will take off from Delhi at 7:55 p.m. and arrive in Shanghai at 4:10 a.m. the following morning. Ticket bookings for the route have already been made available online.

In a related development, IndiGo recently announced new daily flights from Kolkata to China’s Guangzhou starting October 26, with additional Delhi–Guangzhou routes expected to follow soon.
