Borders Can Change, Sindh May Return To India Again: Rajnath Singh’s Big Remark

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has made a significant statement suggesting that the Sindh region, currently part of Pakistan, could one day return to India. Speaking at the Sindhi Samaj Sammelan in New Delhi on Sunday, Singh emphasized the deep-rooted civilisational ties between India and Sindh, asserting that while political boundaries may separate the land today, the cultural connection remains unbreakable.

“Today, the land of Sindh may not be a part of India, but civilisationally, Sindh will always be a part of India. And as far as land is concerned, borders can change. Who knows, tomorrow Sindh may return to India again,” Singh stated, sparking discussions on the future of the region amid tense relations between the two neighbors following ‘Operation Sindoor’ in May.

Invoking veteran BJP leader L.K. Advani, Singh highlighted the emotional struggle of the Sindhi community, noting that many in Advani’s generation never fully accepted the partition of Sindh from India. He quoted Advani’s writings to underscore the shared reverence for the Indus River, which is considered sacred by Hindus across India and respected by many Muslims in Sindh as well.

Singh reassured the gathering that the people of Sindh, regardless of their current location, would “always be our own.” His remarks, coming at a sensitive time, reinforce India’s stance on its cultural heritage and are likely to provoke a strong diplomatic reaction from Islamabad.
