Bomb threats to over 50 Delhi schools today, second such incident this week

On Wednesday morning, over 50 schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails, sparking immediate concern and action, according to ANI, citing police sources. Among the affected institutions are schools in Malviya Nagar and Najafgarh, including Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya (SKV) in Hauz Rani, where bomb squads and security personnel were promptly deployed. Visuals from the scene showed emergency teams conducting thorough searches at SKV Hauz Rani after a threat was reported early in the day.

This incident follows closely on the heels of a similar scare just two days prior, when 32 Delhi schools received comparable threats, leading to widespread evacuations and extensive security checks. On Monday, institutions such as Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka, Modern Convent School, and ShreeRam World School in Sector 10, Dwarka, were among those targeted, prompting parents to rush to retrieve their children. Those threats, like many before them, were later deemed hoaxes, but the repeated incidents have heightened anxiety among students, parents, and school staff.

Authorities, including the Delhi Police and bomb disposal units, responded swiftly to Wednesday’s threats, cordoning off affected school premises and conducting detailed inspections. No suspicious items have been reported so far, but the scale of the threats targeting dozens of schools has raised concerns about the recurring nature of these incidents. The Delhi Fire Services and other agencies are assisting in the response, ensuring comprehensive searches to safeguard students and staff.

The threats come amid a troubling pattern of hoax emails targeting educational institutions in the capital. Monday’s incident saw similar demands for cryptocurrency payments, with threats of violence if unmet, attributed to a group calling itself “Terrorisers 111 Group.” Investigations into the source of these emails are ongoing, as authorities work to trace those responsible and prevent further disruptions. The situation remains fluid, with more details expected as police continue their probe.
