Belgium’s Supreme Court Rejects Mehul Choksi’s Appeal Against Extradition Order

Belgium’s Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected fugitive diamond trader Mehul Choksi’s appeal against an order paving the way for his extradition to India. Choksi had moved the Court of Cassation in October after the Antwerp Court of Appeal, on October 17, upheld India’s extradition request and declared the order “enforceable.”

The ruling by the Antwerp Court of Appeal was seen as one of the final legal obstacles in the protracted extradition proceedings, prompting Choksi to seek intervention from Belgium’s highest judicial body, which has now dismissed his challenge.
