Mumbai : Crisis-hit IndiGo announced that it would issue additional travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 to passengers who were “severely impacted” due to its massive operational collapse that led to thousands of cancellations and delays over the past week.
IndiGo, which has been on an apology-issuing spree over the meltdown due to crew shortages, admitted that a section of its customers were “stranded for many hours” at airports as widespread chaos rocked India’s largest airline. We will offer travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 to such severely impacted customers. These travel vouchers can be used for any future IndiGo journey for the next 12 months,” IndiGo said.
The airline, which has a domestic market share of nearly 65%, however, said the vouchers were over and above the mandatory payout prescribed under the government guidelines. Block time generally refers to the entire duration an aircraft is in operation, right from the time it leaves its parking space.
It is a key factor for measuring the on-time performance (OTP) of flights. The fresh communication from IndiGo came as it returned to full operational stability on Thursday, with the airline expecting to operate more than 1,950 flights by the end of the day.
