Mumbai Braces for Heavy Rainfall as IMD Issues Alerts Across Maharashtra

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts across Maharashtra, with a red alert for the Konkan region and an orange alert for other parts of the state, including Vidarbha, Marathwada, and central Maharashtra. Mumbai woke to overcast skies today, with the IMD forecasting moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms throughout the day.

According to the IMD, the Konkan region, including coastal areas, is expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. Other regions under the orange alert are likely to see significant but less intense precipitation. The forecast predicts cloudy conditions and continued rainfall across Maharashtra for the remainder of the week.

The Central Pollution Control Bureau’s Sameer app reported Mumbai’s Air Quality Index (AQI) at 50, indicating a “good” air quality level, a notable improvement after months of varying air quality conditions.
