Thane Police Issue Traffic Diversions In Dombivli For Gudi Padwa Procession, Check Routes

Dombivli: Having some plans on Gudi Padwa celebrations scheduled on March 19 ? Want to go out? But Check routes before going out as authorities in Thane have issued a traffic advisory for Dombivli ahead of the celebrations, with several road diversions planned to manage congestion during a large cultural procession.

According to The Free Press Journal, the Thane Traffic Police expect heavy public participation in the event and have taken measures to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety. 

The procession is scheduled to begin at 6:30 am from Bhagshala Maidan in Dombivli West. From there, participants will move towards Shiv Mandir Road–Char Rasta via Kopar Bridge and continue through Bajiprabhu Chowk and Phadke Road in Dombivli East, police officials said in the traffic notification. 

The event is being organised by Shri Ganesh Mandir Sansthan, Dombivli East, as part of the traditional Marathi New Year celebrations. Authorities expect a large number of residents, including families, youth and members of social organisations, to participate in the procession. Cultural activities such as Lezim Pathak performances, Sanai Choughada music, bhajans and Dindi groups will be part of the celebrations, adding to the festive atmosphere. 

To manage traffic flow, police have announced that Phadke Road between Bajiprabhu Chowk and Apadatar Chowk will remain closed to vehicles during the procession. Motorists travelling through the area will be diverted through alternate routes to avoid congestion near the event route. 

Vehicles approaching the restricted stretch will be redirected through Nehru Road towards Dombivli station and further along Lokmanya Tilak Road via Savarkar Road and Indira Chowk, officials said. These diversions are intended to minimise traffic disruption while ensuring the safety of participants and commuters. 

Authorities have advised residents and commuters to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes on the morning of March 19. Police also urged motorists to follow traffic instructions and cooperate with officials deployed along the procession route.

The advisory aims to ensure that the Gudi Padwa celebrations proceed smoothly while reducing inconvenience to the public during the large-scale cultural event in Dombivli.
