According to authorities on Sunday (July 12, 2026), a bomb threat against the famous Taj Hotel in Mumbai set off a security alarm. Authorities and security agencies then carried out a thorough search operation at the location before announcing that the threat was a fake.
The Taj Hotel was put on high alert, according to police, when a man allegedly contacted the Navi Mumbai Police Control Room at 12:13 a.m. and said, “Dawood has planted a bomb at the Taj Hotel.” The Mumbai Police Main Control Room received the information right away.
Teams from the Crime Branch, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and the Colaba Police raced to the Taj Hotel in response to the alarm and began a thorough security inspection. A comprehensive search was conducted of the hotel’s main lobby, parking lot, event halls, restaurants, swimming pool, and other important areas.
Police verified that no explosives or suspicious items were discovered on the property following a thorough examination. It was discovered that the bomb threat was a fake.
The threatening call came from the Turbhe region of Navi Mumbai, according to technical investigation. Based on the cellphone number used, police have started a hunt to find and apprehend the caller. To find and capture the culprit, authorities are collaborating with the Turbhe Police.
One of the main targets of the 26/11 Mumbai terror assault, which claimed 166 lives and injured hundreds more, was the hotel in the Colaba neighborhood of the city.
Police and security officials conducted a thorough investigation of Delhi’s famous Red Fort on Saturday, July 11, 2026, after the Mumbai Police received a similar bomb threat in which the caller purportedly indicated that the landmark will be blown up. Later on, it was deemed a scam.
Delhi Police claim that the threat started with a phone call to the Mumbai Police Control Room, who promptly forwarded the information to their Delhi equivalent. The North District Police were then notified to start security measures. Police officers, bomb disposal teams, and other security teams quickly responded to the notice and thoroughly cleaned and inspected the Red Fort.
Officials verified that the threat was untrue after carefully inspecting the area and finding no explosive material or suspicious objects.
