Authorities confirmed the politician is stable and out of danger as they intensify efforts to apprehend the assailants.

Haji Salim Qureshi, the Shiv Sena contender for Ward No. 92, was attacked on Wednesday evening in Sant Dnyaneshwar Nagar, according to Mumbai police statements reported by ANI news agency. He suffered cut injuries but received prompt medical attention.

In a separate event on Wednesday, Shiv Sena leader Pramod Nana Bhangire reported that stones were thrown at his vehicle during a campaign meeting near Shreeram Chowk in Pune. The attack also targeted Shiv Sena candidate Sarika Pawar, Bhangire told ANI. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene to identify the perpetrators. “This is very wrong. This shouldn’t happen,” Bhangire stated.

Additionally, Maharashtra AIMIM chief Imtiaz Jaleel claimed that a party rally in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar was disrupted by unidentified assailants wielding weapons, resulting in injuries to several supporters and damage to vehicles. Despite having police permission and presence at the event, the attack occurred, Jaleel told reporters. He emphasized that the rally proceeded peacefully, asserting the party’s commitment to democratic rights.

These episodes highlight rising tensions as multiple municipal corporations across the state, including BMC, Pune Municipal Corporation, and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, prepare for elections announced by the State Election Commission.
