Pune Row: Ajit Pawar Says Mundhwa Mahar Watan Land Deal Scrapped; Probe Panel Formed Amid Parth Pawar Link

What Ajit Pawar Announced
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said on Friday evening that the contentious Mahar Watan land transaction in Pune’s Mundhwa has been cancelled, following a 24-hour political storm over the deal linked to Amadea Enterprises LLP, a firm in which his son Parth Pawar’s name surfaced. He added that a committee has been constituted to conduct a full inquiry and submit its report within a month, asserting that the sequence of events, including who facilitated the deal and who made calls, will be brought on record. Pawar reiterated he does not tolerate any act outside the rules, even by associates or relatives, and maintained that no money changed hands before the agreement was called off.
Pawar’s Defence and Call for Transparency
Responding to repeated questions, Ajit Pawar said he has never bent rules to push work in his political career and recalled that allegations raised against him in 2009–10 were not proven. He argued that political opponents will try to malign him but insisted he had no prior knowledge of this transaction; if he had, he would have openly acknowledged it. Pawar said he urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to proceed strictly as per law through a comprehensive probe or a committee and assured full cooperation so the public can see the facts behind the charges.

FIRs Filed; Police Stance on Parth’s Name
An FIR was registered at Bavdhan Police Station (PCPC) after Joint District Registrar Santosh Hingane’s complaint named Digvijay Amar Singh Patil, Sheetal Kishanchand Tejwani (power of attorney holder for sellers), and suspended sub-registrar Ravindra Balkrushna Taaru. The case cites cheating, criminal breach of trust, and alleged stamp duty evasion of roughly Rs 6 crore, claiming a conspiracy to execute the sale deed without mandatory duty. Asked why Parth Pawar wasn’t named, Zone 2 DCP Vishal Gaikwad said the FIR reflected the complainant’s account and targeted those physically present and directly involved during registration; Hingane echoed that only the individuals who executed the deed in person were under his immediate remit.
Second Case Under Pune City limits
A separate case at Khadki Police Station named nine people, including Digvijay Patil and a suspended tehsildar, based on a complaint by Pune Sub-Divisional Officer Pravina Borade. The Bopodi-linked case alleges that a partner at Amadea Enterprises LLP, in collusion with a suspended Pune City tehsildar and others, improperly handled government-classified land, causing loss to the state. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, when asked about the absence of Parth Pawar’s name, said the matter has been transferred to the Economic Offences Wing and updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
What Remains Under Scrutiny
The controversy centres on the classification and handling of ‘Mahar Watan’ land, the role of intermediaries, and alleged stamp duty violations during registration. While Ajit Pawar says the deal stands cancelled and insists on a rule-bound probe, both Pune City and Pimpri-Chinchwad police have, so far, refrained from naming Parth Pawar in the registered cases. With the Chief Secretary-led committee set to report within a month, the focus will be on documentary trails, decision chains, and whether any illegal benefit or procedural bypass occurred.
