Pranit More Deactivates Instagram Amid Viral Rs 370 Ki Biryani Controversy

Mumbai: Stand-up comedian Pranit More has reportedly deactivated his Instagram account following massive online backlash over the viral “Rs 370 ki biryani” controversy. The issue erupted after a crowd interaction clip from one of his comedy shows circulated widely on social media.

The now-deleted video featured an audience member discussing a date during which he claimed to have spent Rs 370 on chicken biryani. During the interaction, the man implied that paying for the meal entitled him to expect intimacy in return. The remarks quickly triggered criticism online, with many users calling the comments misogynistic and insensitive.

Criticism Also Directed At Pranit More

While the audience member’s remarks sparked outrage, a large section of social media users also criticised Pranit More for laughing during the exchange and sharing the clip online. In the viral video, the comedian reportedly referred to the interaction as “Peak Gurgaon content,” which further intensified the backlash.

Several influencers and content creators publicly condemned the clip. Influencers including Kusha Kapila, Dolly Singh, Sakshi Shivdasani and Uorfi Javed criticised both the remarks and the comedian’s handling of the situation.

Comedian Issues Public Apology

As criticism continued to grow, Pranit More issued a public apology, stating that the audience member’s comments did not reflect his personal views. He admitted that he should have challenged the statement during the show instead of laughing and moving forward with the interaction.

The comedian also confirmed that he had removed the clip from social media platforms, saying he did not wish to normalise or amplify such views.

Audience Member Faces Professional Consequences

The controversy later extended beyond social media after the audience member, identified as Himanshu Jangra from Gurugram, reportedly lost his job at a design company following widespread online outrage. According to reports by NDTV and The Indian Express, the company reviewed the matter internally before deciding to terminate his employment.

The development sparked another online debate, with some users supporting the company’s action while others questioned whether professional consequences for personal remarks made outside the workplace were justified.

Instagram Account Goes Missing

Amid the continuing controversy, users noticed that Pranit More’s Instagram account had disappeared. Reports suggest the comedian either temporarily deactivated or removed the account as criticism continued to mount online. According to Times of India, More hinted that he may return to the platform after some time.
