Mumbai Woman Allegedly Assaulted by Urban Company Masseuse Following Cancellation Dispute: Viral Video Prompts Police Probe

A Mumbai woman has filed accusations against an Urban Company masseuse for assault, hair-pulling, and facial punching. A video capturing the incident has circulated widely online, showing the two women engaged in an intense verbal exchange that rapidly escalated into physical violence.
The 46-year-old woman had scheduled a massage appointment through the Urban Company application at her Wadala residence, hoping to address shoulder stiffness. The masseuse reached her home punctually, but conflict emerged even before the service commenced.
According to the woman’s account, she objected to the oversized massage bed the masseuse had transported. Additionally perceiving her conduct as unsuitable, she promptly reconsidered and chose to cancel the appointment. The moment the woman began the refund procedure on the app, the masseuse reportedly became enraged.
Provoked by the booking cancellation, the masseuse began hurling verbal abuse at her, the woman mentioned in her formal complaint.
The situation quickly intensified into a physical confrontation. The masseuse grabbed the woman’s hair and struck her face with punches, she claimed. Throughout the assault, she was forced to the ground, sustaining multiple scratches across her body.
Her son was also shoved aside when he attempted to step in. “She is a mad woman (masseuse). She came into my house and started beating my mother,” he is heard shouting and instructing the masseuse to exit their residence.
Following the incident, the woman contacted the police. However, the masseuse had departed her home before law enforcement arrived.
Wadala police filed a case and launched an investigation.
During the inquiry, police discovered certain technical inconsistencies in the masseuse’s identity and name registered on the app, which were subsequently corrected. The police are now pursuing a comprehensive investigation into the incident based on the viral video.
