Mumbai is grappling with significant monsoon challenges as heavy overnight showers have triggered widespread waterlogging and traffic snarls across the metropolis. Intermittent rainfall continues to lash the city, with major roads submerged and low-lying areas struggling to drain excess water. Reports indicate severe inundation at key spots including the Andheri subway, Worli Sea Link, Kings Circle, Borivali, Vile Parle, Bandra, and several other localities, forcing commuters to navigate slowed traffic and disrupted routines.
Weather conditions point to a continuation of intense activity throughout the day. Forecasters anticipate heavy downpours accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph at isolated locations. High humidity levels are expected to add to the discomfort. Early morning readings at Mumbai’s Santacruz area showed temperatures around 25.2 degrees Celsius with near-complete humidity saturation.
Neighboring regions are also set to experience active weather. Thane is likely to see rainfall paired with thunderstorms and lightning, along with stronger gusts of 40-50 kmph in some places. Palghar, meanwhile, can expect moderate rain interspersed with thundershowers.
Concerns over educational institutions remain, though no formal announcements regarding closures of schools or colleges have been made by local authorities. Many parents have nevertheless chosen to keep children at home amid the hazardous travel conditions caused by standing water and ongoing precipitation.

Morning temperatures are projected to range from 25 to 29 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels between 82 and 96 percent. As the day progresses, rainfall could intensify, bringing approximately 12 mm of precipitation to parts of the city, pushing humidity higher in the 83-87 percent range by evening. Overnight conditions are expected to feature minimum temperatures of 24 to 27 degrees Celsius and humidity between 90 and 97 percent. Light winds around 13 kmph may provide slight relief from the muggy atmosphere.
Authorities have cautioned that persistent showers and thunderstorms could exacerbate flooding risks in vulnerable areas. Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling and stay updated on local conditions as the monsoon system remains active over the region.
