Mumbai: Mumbai and its suburban areas are set to witness clear skies on Thursday, with hot and humid conditions likely in some isolated pockets of the suburbs, according to weather updates. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum has been recorded at 24 degrees Celsius in key locations.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Mumbai reported that both Colaba and Santacruz registered a minimum temperature of 24.0 degrees Celsius with no rainfall overnight. Light winds are anticipated, and overall weather conditions are predicted to remain stable without any significant changes or rainfall in the near term.
As per the Centre’s SAMEER app, Mumbai’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 76 at 9 am, falling in the ‘satisfactory’ category. At this level, sensitive individuals might experience minor breathing discomfort. The air quality across the city is generally expected to remain in the satisfactory to moderate range.
Area-wise AQI readings showed variations: Deonar recorded 138 (moderate), Chakala 120 (moderate), Ghatkopar 101 (moderate), while several other spots like Bandra-Kurla Complex (82), Borivali East (54), Colaba (67), Bandra East (72), Mazgaon (85), Navy Nagar (87), Sion (84) stayed in the satisfactory category. Kandivali East reported the best air quality at 36, classified as ‘good’.
Meanwhile, the Vidarbha region continues to face intense heat, with most cities recording maximum temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius. Akola topped the list at 44.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Amravati at 44.0 and Wardha at 43.9 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures ranged from 21.8 to 26.4 degrees Celsius, with Yavatmal noting the highest minimum. No rainfall was reported in the region over the past 24 hours, and maximum temperatures showed a positive departure from normal.
