Mumbai commuters are advised to plan their travel carefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026, as both Central Railway and Western Railway will implement significant traffic blocks for track, signalling, overhead equipment, and other essential maintenance work. These periodic Sunday blocks, known as Mega Block on Central Railway and Jumbo Block on Western Railway, aim to ensure infrastructure safety and reliability.
On the Central Railway’s Main Line, a block will affect the UP and DOWN slow lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) Mumbai and Vidyavihar from 10:55 am to 3:55 pm. Down slow services departing CSMT from 10:48 am to 3:45 pm will be diverted to the DOWN fast line between CSMT and Vidyavihar, stopping at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion, and Kurla before rejoining the slow line at Vidyavihar. Similarly, UP slow services from Ghatkopar departing between 10:19 am and 3:52 pm will run on the UP fast line from Vidyavihar to CSMT, halting at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel, and Byculla.
The Harbour Line will experience a block on the UP and DOWN lines (excluding the PORT line) between Panvel and Vashi from 11:05 am to 4:05 pm. As a result, UP Harbour services from Panvel to CSMT departing between 10:33 am and 3:49 pm, along with DOWN services from CSMT to Belapur/Panvel departing between 9:45 am and 3:12 pm, will be cancelled. Special local trains will operate on the CSMT–Vashi section during this period to ease commuting.
On the Trans-Harbour Line, services will be limited. UP trains from Panvel to Thane departing between 11:02 am and 3:53 pm, and DOWN trains from Thane to Panvel departing between 10:01 am and 3:20 pm, will remain cancelled. Operations will continue between Thane and Vashi/Nerul. The Uran Line’s PORT services will run without interruption.
Western Railway will conduct a Jumbo Block on the UP and DOWN slow lines between Santacruz and Goregaon from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm for maintenance on tracks, signalling, and overhead equipment. During this window, slow line trains will operate on fast lines, skipping stops at Vile Parle and Ram Mandir due to platform limitations. However, Harbour Line services (Churchgate–Goregaon) will continue halting at these stations. Certain suburban services will face cancellations, and some Borivali and Andheri trains may terminate at Goregaon on the Harbour Line.
Railway authorities have emphasized that these blocks are crucial for upkeep and passenger safety. Detailed lists of affected trains will be available at station masters’ offices. Commuters are urged to check updates and consider alternative arrangements to minimize inconvenience.
