Mumbai Man Accidentally Pays Auto Driver ₹15,682: What Happened Next Restores Faith In Honesty

Mumbai: In an age where digital payments have become a part of everyday life, a simple mistake by a Mumbai entrepreneur led to an extraordinary act of honesty that is now winning hearts across social media.

The incident involved Shubham Gune, founder and CEO of Hinglish, who was rushing to an early morning meeting with an international client in Mumbai. After completing an auto-rickshaw ride that cost ₹156, he made the payment through UPI. In the hurry to reach his meeting on time, Gune accidentally entered ₹15,682 instead of ₹156 and completed the transaction without noticing the error.

Unaware of the mistake, he headed into what he later described as a difficult business meeting. When he came out, disappointed with how the meeting had gone, he was surprised to find the auto-rickshaw driver still waiting nearby.

The driver, identified as Altaf, had noticed the unusually large payment and decided to return the money. He informed Gune about the mistake and transferred the entire ₹15,682 back to him. What made the gesture even more remarkable was that Altaf refused to keep even the original fare of ₹156.

According to Gune’s account, the driver told him that it was the beginning of the day for both of them and he did not want to make the entrepreneur’s day any harder than it already seemed.

The story quickly gained attention online, with many social media users praising Altaf’s integrity and kindness. At a time when stories of fraud and scams often dominate headlines, this incident served as a refreshing reminder that honesty and compassion still thrive in everyday life.

More than the money itself, it was the driver’s selfless decision to return the full amount and refuse payment that left a lasting impression, later Gune transfered 500rs to altaf including his fare as a reward to his honesty. The incident has become a powerful example of how a simple act of integrity can restore faith in humanity and inspire thousands of people.
