Mumbai Local Trains Face Mega Block Disruptions This Sunday

Mumbai’s local train network, a vital lifeline for millions, will face significant disruptions this Sunday as Western, Central, and Harbour railway lines undergo essential maintenance, according to an announcement by Central Railway. The scheduled mega block will affect multiple sections, leading to cancellations and delays across the city’s suburban rail system.
Central Railway’s Mumbai Division has planned a block on the Matunga-Mulund section of the Main Line from 11:05 AM to 3:55 PM. During this period, Up slow line services departing Thane between 11:07 AM and 3:51 PM will be rerouted via the Up fast line at Mulund, with additional stops at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla, and Sion. These trains will return to the Up slow line at Matunga but will arrive at their destinations approximately 15 minutes late.
On the Harbour Line, a block between Mankhurd and Nerul from 11:15 AM to 4:15 PM will disrupt regular services. To mitigate the impact, special local trains will operate on the CSMT-Vashi section, and Trans-Harbour Line services will continue between Thane and Vashi/Nerul. Harbour Line passengers are permitted to travel via the Main Line and Western Railway from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM to ease commuting challenges.

Western Railway will also implement a jumbo block between Mahim and Goregaon from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM to carry out track, signal, and overhead equipment maintenance. Fast line suburban trains will shift to the slow line during this period, and some services, including Andheri and Borivali trains, will terminate at Goregaon on the Harbour Line. Several suburban trains will be canceled, adding to commuter inconvenience.
Central Railway officials emphasized that these maintenance blocks are critical for ensuring infrastructure safety and reliability. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays. Navbharat Times reported these details, highlighting the impact on Mumbai’s bustling rail network.
