Mumbai: The Mumbai Flower Festival is set to commence at the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Botanical Garden and Zoo in Byculla from February 6 to 8, 2026. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Tree Authority are organizing the three-day event. Entry to the festival is free of charge. The garden will remain open daily from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
The festival’s opening ceremony will be held on the morning of February 6. It is an annual celebration that has evolved into a beloved winter tradition in Mumbai. The 29th edition of the festival will be held this year. The garden has been the venue for the event over the last 28 years. Past editions have featured themes such as the “animal kingdom”, “aquatic life”, “our Mumbai”, “cartoons”, and last year’s “national symbols”.
Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani and Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Dr Avinash Dhakane are supervising the festival. Approximately 5,000 plants are expected to be showcased at the event. Attendees will have the opportunity to view a wide range of vibrant floral plants, seasonal flowers, fruit saplings, medicinal plants, and ornamental species. Families, gardeners, and nature enthusiasts will be able to experience biodiversity and gain insights into plant care in an engaging environment.
Alongside the plant exhibits, multiple stalls will be organized. These stalls will sell gardening tools, pots, soil mixes, fertilisers, and other horticultural products. Workshops on gardening will be conducted from February 6 to 8.
The workshops will offer instruction on gardening, plant care, and the appropriate type and quantity of fertiliser to use. They will address trees, climbers, and saplings. The workshops aim to equip both novice and seasoned gardeners with practical knowledge. The BMC has encouraged residents to attend the festival and benefit from the free admission.
