Mumbai Blaze Engulfs Vehicles On Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road, No Injuries Reported

Mumbai: According to a report by The Free Press Journal, a fire broke out on Mumbai’s busy Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road on Thursday, engulfing around 10 to 12 vehicles and sending thick plumes of smoke into the surrounding area. The incident occurred near the Bainganwadi signal in Govandi, triggering panic among commuters and locals in the vicinity.

As reported, the fire was first noticed at approximately 11:45 am, after which emergency services were immediately alerted. Personnel from the Mumbai Fire Brigade rushed to the scene and launched firefighting operations. Their prompt response ensured that the blaze was brought under control within about an hour, preventing it from spreading further to nearby areas or additional vehicles.

The affected vehicles, primarily four-wheelers, were significantly damaged in the fire. Despite the intensity of the blaze and the dense smoke that covered the stretch, no injuries or casualties were reported, offering some relief amid the alarming situation.

Following the containment of the fire, cooling operations were carried out to eliminate any remaining hotspots and minimise the risk of reignition. Authorities have also initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the incident, though the exact reason behind the fire has not yet been confirmed.

The report by The Free Press Journal highlights that the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road is a crucial arterial route in Mumbai, often witnessing heavy traffic flow. The incident temporarily disrupted movement in the area, though normalcy was gradually restored after the situation was brought under control.

Officials continue to monitor the site and are expected to provide further updates once the investigation progresses. The incident underscores the importance of swift emergency response in preventing larger damage in densely populated urban areas.
