Mumbai: Mumbai recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 62, indicating largely satisfactory air conditions across the city, according to a report by Mid-Day. The update comes as weather conditions remain steady, with no major deterioration in overall air quality levels reported in most areas.
As per the Mid-Day report, data from the SAMEER app showed that the city’s AQI stood at 62 in the morning hours, placing it comfortably within the “satisfactory” category. This marks a stable phase for Mumbai’s air quality, which has generally remained within acceptable limits in recent assessments.
The report further noted that while most parts of Mumbai experienced satisfactory air quality, the Sion area reflected slightly different conditions, with air quality touching a moderate level. Despite this variation, the overall citywide air quality continued to remain within the safer range.
According to Mid-Day, the AQI scale classifies readings between 51 and 100 as satisfactory, while values between 101 and 200 fall under the moderate category. The latest reading of 62 therefore indicates that pollution levels remain under control across the majority of monitoring stations in the city.
The report also highlights that air quality in Mumbai often varies across localities due to traffic density, construction activity, and weather patterns, but no significant spikes were observed in the current update. Monitoring agencies continue to track these fluctuations through real-time data systems such as SAMEER to provide accurate updates on environmental conditions.
Overall, as reported by Mid-Day, Mumbai’s air quality remains stable and largely satisfactory, with only minor localized deviations such as those observed in Sion. The situation reflects relatively balanced atmospheric conditions across the metropolitan region.
