Maharashtra Police Overhaul: 96 Officers Transferred, All 5 Mumbai Joint Commissioners Replaced in Major Reshuffle

The Maharashtra government on Friday ordered a sweeping reshuffle of its police force, transferring and promoting 96 officers across the IPS and State Police Services. The shake-up replaces all five Joint Commissioners of the Mumbai Police in one of the largest administrative reorganisations the force has seen in recent years. The orders were issued by the state’s Home Department.

Mumbai’s New Command Structure

Manojkumar Sharma takes charge of Law and Order in Mumbai, the most operationally demanding portfolio in the city’s police hierarchy. Anil Kumbhare moves into the Crime Branch as Joint Commissioner, while Satyanarayan Chaudhary heads Traffic. Rajesh Pradhan takes over the Economic Offences Wing, and Suvez Haque steps in as Joint Commissioner, Administration.

Beyond the top five, several Additional and Deputy Commissioners were also reshuffled. Mokshada Patil, Dixit Gedam, Krishnakant Upadhyay and Praveen Mundhe have been promoted as Additional Commissioners of Police in Mumbai. New Deputy Commissioners posted to the city include Jayant Meena, Abhaysingh Deshmukh, Ganesh Shinde, Pankaj Dahane, Kavita Nerkar, Poornima Chougule, Himmat Jadhav and Shivaji Pawar.

Senior Appointments Across the State

Krishna Prakash has been appointed Additional Director General of Police, Training. Paramjit Dahiya moves to the Anti-Terrorism Squad as Special Inspector General — a posting that carries considerable operational weight given the ATS’s mandate. Other senior postings include Datta Karale as Special IG at the State Human Rights Commission, Praveen Padwal as Special IG Nashik, Lakhmi Gautam as Special IG Law and Order, and Mahesh Patil as Special IG Planning and Coordination.

C. K. Meena takes charge as Special IG Konkan Region. Sanjay Darade has been posted as Joint Commissioner Pune, Ranjan Sharma as Special IG Kolhapur, Sunil Phulari as Special IG of the Crime Investigation Department, Nishit Mishra as Special IG Training, Jaykumar as Special IG Force One, and Sanjay Yenpure as Special IG VIP Security.

Thane, Navi Mumbai and Other Postings

Sanjay Jadhav has been posted as Additional Commissioner of Police Thane. Dilip Sakore goes to Navi Mumbai as Joint Commissioner. Punjabrao Ugle has been appointed Special IG Police Housing, S. V. Pathak as Special IG Pune, and Vinayak Deshmukh as Controller of Legal Metrology.

Other appointments include Jyoti Priya Singh as Special IG Anti-Narcotics Cell, Jeevan Beniwal as Deputy Commissioner Pune, Shubham Kumar as Additional SP Pune Rural, Vrushti Jain as Deputy Commissioner Solapur, Harshvardhan as Additional SP Gadchiroli, and Priyanka Narnaware as Chief Vigilance Officer of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation.

Tejaswi Satpute has been named Additional Commissioner Pune. Ashok Dudhe goes to SRPF as Deputy Inspector General. Yogesh Gupta is posted as DIG Gadchiroli, Rakesh Ola as Police Commissioner Amravati, and M. Reddy as DIG CID Pune.

Among others named in the orders are Nandkumar Thakur, P. R. Patil, Lohit Matani, Sanjay Barkund, Prashant Mohite, Aditya Mirkhelkar, Gauhar Hasan, Nityanand Jha, Shafqat Amna, Kumar Chinta, Annapurna Singh and M. Kirithika. The reshuffle also covers 38 officers from the State Police Service.
