Kunal Kamra Responds to Shiv Sena Vandalism with Parody Video

Comedian Kunal Kamra shared a video on Tuesday showcasing Shiv Sena members damaging the Habitat Comedy Club in Mumbai, the site of his recent comedy special. Accompanying the footage was a satirical rendition from his show, transforming the classic “Hum Honge Kamyaab” (We Shall Overcome) into “Hum Honge Kangaal” (We Shall Be Bankrupt), a pointed jab delivered with humor.

The video revealed Sena workers tossing chairs, scattering papers and photographs, and wreaking havoc inside the venue. It also captured them igniting Kamraâs picture and preparing to burn an effigy of him, with additional scenes showing them celebrating after being granted bail following their arrest for the vandalism.
Among those detained was Rahool Kanal, General Secretary of Shiv Senaâs Yuva Sena, one of twelve individuals apprehended for the destruction. Speaking to ANI, Kanal defended their actions as a stand for self-respect and reverence for elders, issuing a stern warning to Kamra: âWhenever you are in Mumbai, you will get a good lesson in Shiv Sena style. This is just the trailer; the full picture is yet to come.â

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde addressed the escalating tensions, suggesting Kamraâs satirical barbs resembled a paid assignment to malign someone. Speaking at an event, Shinde acknowledged the right to free speech but underscored the need for restraint, stating, âFreedom of speech is there, but there should be a limit.â While condemning the vandalism, he noted, âAction causes reaction,â urging all parties to maintain decorum.
Shinde shifted focus to his administrationâs achievements, asserting that his work overshadows such controversies. He cited the revival of stalled infrastructure projects like the Atal Setu, Coastal Road, and Metro initiatives, alongside welfare programs such as the âLadki Bahinâ and âLakhpati Didiâ schemes and free education for girls. âI donât focus on who says what; I answer them through my work,â he told PTI.
Kamra, unyielding in his stance, has denounced the attack on the comedy club and stood firm on his remarks. The incident marks the latest chapter in a heated clash between the comedian and Shiv Sena, spotlighted by his unapologetic satire.
