KRK Arrested in Oshiwara Firing Case: Lawyer Calls It a Bollywood-Orchestrated Frame-Up

Controversial actor-producer and self-styled critic Kamaal R Khan, popularly known as KRK, has been remanded to police custody until January 27 by a Bandra court in connection with a shooting incident outside his residence in Mumbai’s Oshiwara area.

KRK was detained for questioning by Oshiwara police on Friday evening and formally arrested the following day. His advocate, however, has vehemently rejected the charges, terming the entire matter a “fabricated” attempt to falsely implicate his client and pointing fingers at influential figures in the Hindi film industry.

Speaking to the media outside the court, advocate Nagesh Mishra said, “The entire case is fabricated. Kamaal R Khan has been falsely implicated in this case. The contention of the police is that he fired a bullet from his gun. But it is not correct.”

Mishra argued that the bullet recovered had an effective range of only 20 metres, while KRK’s bungalow is located more than 400 metres away from the spot where the shots were allegedly fired. “Many big names in Bollywood are instigating the police to implicate him in this case,” he alleged, adding that the police were being misled and that there was no link between the actor and the complainant, Neeraj Mishra.

Police sources said the incident took place on January 18 at Nalanda Society in Oshiwara, where two bullets struck the second and fourth floors of a residential building. Initial CCTV footage yielded no leads, but forensic examination suggested the rounds may have been fired from KRK’s nearby bungalow using his licensed firearm. According to investigators, KRK admitted during questioning that the shots were fired with his gun, though the motive remains unclear.

A case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
