Mumbai police have arrested controversial actor Kamaal Rashid Khan, widely known as KRK, in connection with a shooting incident that targeted a residential complex in the city’s Andheri suburb earlier this month.
The arrest took place on Saturday morning at the hands of the Oshiwara police station team. KRK is currently in custody at the station, where officials are completing necessary formalities.
DCP Dikshit Gedam of Zone 9 confirmed the development to reporters. According to the senior officer, KRK acknowledged that the two rounds were discharged from his licensed firearm while he was in the process of cleaning it. Authorities have recovered and seized the weapon as part of the ongoing investigation.
The episode unfolded on January 18, when two bullets struck Nalanda Society in Oshiwara. One projectile lodged in a second-floor apartment occupied by a writer-director, while the second hit the fourth-floor residence of a model. Fortunately, no one sustained injuries in the incident.

An intensive probe followed, involving an 18-member team from Oshiwara police led by senior inspector Sanjay Chavan, supported by personnel from various crime branch units. Early examination of CCTV footage around the area produced no immediate breakthroughs. Subsequent forensic examination of the recovered bullets, however, pointed toward KRK’s nearby bungalow as the possible origin of the gunfire, narrowing suspicion on the actor and prompting his detention.
KRK, who has frequently made headlines for his outspoken social media commentary and film industry remarks, now faces legal proceedings related to the unauthorised discharge of a firearm in a populated area. Police continue to examine all aspects of the case, including the precise circumstances surrounding the weapon handling.
