Mumbai: A 17-year-old student was seriously injured after an iron rod fell and struck him on the head during ongoing demolition work for a road-widening project in Vidyavihar (East).
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at 3:50 pm near the junction on Station Road in Ghatkopar East, opposite R.N. Gandhi School. The student, identified as Deven Jain, was admitted to the Ghatkopar Municipal Corporation-run Rajawadi Hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable. According to information received, he sustained a major wound to the head, requiring 15 to 16 stitches.

Rod fell during ongoing demolition work
According to preliminary information, the student, who studies at Somaiya College, was walking on the road when an iron rod came from the opposite direction during the ongoing demolition work and fell on him, causing a severe injury to his head. Demolition work was being carried out in the area as part of a road-widening project.
